How to Arrive

Your journey begins in Lima, via the Central highway. As we leave Chosica we begin to appreciate the quickly changing landscape during our entire journey. The villages of Matucana and San Mateo are the gateway to your arrival at the summit, “the opening to Anticona”, at an elevation of 4,818 meters above sea level. Ticlio is the highest point on the road. This is an impressive place to see, surrounded by snow and blue lagoons, as we begin our descent.

Arriving in La Oroya, an important mining center, we will take a diversion to Tarma, “the Pearl of the Andes”. We will follow the eastern branch line of the Andes, in a direction to the High Jungle of Junin’s Chanchamayo valley. We can discern from the highway the green mountains and the spectacular waterfalls that welcome us. La Merced, capital of Chanchamayo, is a small city, always warm due to its climate, and full of life and commerce. The city resides along the shore of the Chanchamayo River at an altitude of 800 meters above sea level.

The vantage point. We call it vantage point because of the geographic characteristics where Fundo San Jose is situated, surrounded by gentle hills and fields that look out over the valley, from a grand lookout point, with a panoramic view of the extraordinary countryside.
